The head of Interacademic Affairs: Prof. Benny Chor
The policy of Interacademic Affairs Office at Tel Aviv University (TAU) is committed to the enrichment of the academic environment for students and faculty via the creation of international connections with academic institutions abroad. This policy is reflected in mutual agreements between such institutions and TAU. Within this framework there are student and faculty exchanges as well as academic cooperation.
The office is in charge of two areas: 1. Academic cooperation between TAU and academic institutions abroad
The Office oversees agreements on academic cooperation on the subject of faculty and student exchanges, as well as joint programs in the areas of teaching and research.
Within this framework the Office provides advice to overseas students coming to study at TAU, and to TAU students who have completed at least one academic year and seek to study abroad at the institutions with which TAU has agreements. The exchange agreements form the framework for cooperation between TAU and universities abroad. To enable the exchanges, TAU students are asked to contact the Interacademic Affairs Office and the unit where they study. Scholastic excellence is one of the criteria for the approval of study abroad. There is a special program operating between TAU and the Venice International University (VIU) of which TAU is one of the founders. VIU was established to function as a center for various kinds of academic activities and is essentially different from other universities throughout the world. VIU takes in students from the program's partner universities, and they study together for a single semester, fall or spring. The program is aimed at undergraduate students who have completed at least one academic year. In the fall semester, the curriculum is devoted to subjects in the social sciences, and in the spring to the humanities. Classes are in English. The lecturers come from all the partner universities and change every semester. The goals of the program are exposure to different subjects; diverse teaching methods; intercultural encounter that promotes dialogue and mutual understanding against the backdrop of a city rich in history and art.
